MacBook will not turn on — does it still have value?
"It will not turn on at all." It is probably the most common sentence we hear. And almost every time it comes with the belief that the laptop has become a worthless lump of aluminium. In reality, things are almost always different.
"Will not turn on" does not mean "dead"
A MacBook that shows no sign of life may have a single, specific problem: a power circuit, a controller, a small component on the board. The rest — display, battery, SSD, casing — can be perfect. For someone who diagnoses at board level, the difference between "will not turn on" and "beyond repair" is huge.
The "burned processor" myth
Many people come to us after another service told them the "processor is burned" or that it is "not worth the investment". Most of the time, the real problem is something else entirely and far smaller than the processor. Whatever the diagnosis, your MacBook has components that are worth something.
Before you throw away a MacBook that will not turn on, or give it away for nothing, let someone who understands the board take a look. You may be surprised what it is worth.
What you can do now
- Do not throw it away or take it apart yourself.
- Note what happened before (it took liquid, it was dropped, it simply stopped turning on).
- Send us a few photos on WhatsApp and we will give you an indicative estimate.
